Experience Matters

Creating an effective parenting plan requires more than completing a form—it requires experience recognizing the issues that often lead to future conflict and addressing them before they become problems. My experience as a court-appointed Advisory Consultant, mediator, and parenting plan specialist allows me to help families create practical, child-focused parenting plans designed to work in everyday life.

Court-Appointed Advisory Consultant

As a court-appointed Advisory Consultant, I have worked with families and courts to resolve complex custody and parenting matters. That experience provides valuable insight into creating parenting plans that are practical, child-focused, and designed to reduce future conflict.

Parenting Plan Specialist

Every parenting plan I develop is customized to fit your family's unique circumstances—not generated from a template. My goal is to create clear, workable agreements that help parents make good decisions today while reducing conflict tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every family is unique, and every parenting plan should reflect those differences. Below are answers to some of the questions I hear most often from parents. If you don't see your question here, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Do both parents have to participate?

No. A parenting plan can be developed with one parent or collaboratively with both parents. While involving both parents often leads to greater cooperation, I can also help you prepare a comprehensive parenting plan if you are participating on your own.

What should a parenting plan include?

A strong parenting plan addresses much more than a visitation schedule. It should include parenting time, holidays, transportation, decision-making responsibilities, communication expectations, conflict resolution procedures, and provisions that allow the plan to adapt as your child grows.

Can a parenting plan be modified later?

Yes. As children grow and family circumstances change, parenting plans often need to be updated. A well-written parenting plan is designed to provide stability while allowing for reasonable adjustments over time. If both parents agree, modifications can often be made without significant conflict.

What if we don't agree on everything?

That's okay. Many parents begin the process with disagreements. My role is to help identify common ground, keep discussions focused on your child's best interests, and work toward practical solutions. Even if every issue isn't resolved immediately, meaningful progress can still be made.

How long does the process take?

Every family is different. Some parenting plans can be completed in a single session, while more complex situations may require additional meetings. The timeline depends on the number of issues that need to be addressed and the level of cooperation between the parents. My goal is always to create a thorough, workable plan rather than rushing the process.

Will this work if we have a high-conflict relationship?

Yes. Many of the families I work with are experiencing significant conflict. A detailed, well-structured parenting plan can reduce future disagreements by clearly addressing expectations, responsibilities, communication, exchanges, holidays, decision-making, and procedures for resolving disputes before they become larger problems.

Do you provide legal advice?

No. I am not acting as your attorney and cannot provide legal advice or represent either parent. I provide guidance, education, mediation, and assistance in developing practical parenting plans. If legal advice is needed, I encourage you to consult with an attorney.

What happens after the parenting plan is completed?

Once your parenting plan is finalized, you'll have a clear roadmap for raising your child together. If the plan is part of a legal case, it may be submitted to the court as part of your custody proceedings, depending on your circumstances. If your family's needs change in the future, I can also help review and update your parenting plan as your child grows.
